Bang Co (he/him) is a passionate advocate and programs manager who works with underserved young people and success partners to empower and uplift the AAPI community. After nearly a decade of working with several non-profit organizations, Bang believes in creating positive, equitable, and sustainable change for underrepresented communities. Through his professional work and volunteer activities, Bang strives to empower youth to take ownership of their personal growth journey through meaningful dialogue, impactful activities, and transformational experiences.
As the DC Programs Manager of AALEAD, Bang oversees the After School and Summer Programs serving youth in the District of Columbia. In addition, he also collaborates with the DC Team to successfully implement programs focused on helping youth grow in three outcome areas: Educational Empowerment, Leadership, and Identity.
Bang is the son of proud immigrant parents who have built a humble life here in America as small business owners. As the oldest son, Bang has had a unique experience of self-discovery and identity development as an Asian American. Bang is passionate about his parents’ cultures and spends each day learning Vietnamese, Cantonese, and Mandarin. With this cultural understanding and language skills, he strives to give back to the AAPI community through advocacy work and education empowerment.
In addition to his professional work, Bang also serves as the Vice President for Student Affairs for Kappa Kappa Psi and as the DEI & Community Outreach Director for the DC Chapter of the National Association of Asian American Professionals. Bang also holds a B.S. in Kinesiology from Indiana University.
