Celebrating AAPI Heritage Month

May was a vibrant and inspiring month as we celebrated Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month with enthusiasm and pride! Our team eagerly joined a variety of events throughout the community, all aimed at honoring AAPI heritage and raising awareness about important cultural and social issues. From lively community happy hours and engaging book signings to volunteering at festivals, every moment was filled with connection and celebration. One standout highlight was our participation in the Asian Festival on Main in Old Town Fairfax City—a beautiful celebration of Asian heritage through food, arts, crafts, education, and performances. There, we had the opportunity to share information about Asian American LEAD and our after-school programs with youth and families, while also supporting the festival behind the scenes to help it run smoothly.

Another memorable experience was our partnership with Harris Williams for a special volunteer day at Chinatown Park. Together, we spent meaningful time with seniors of Wah Luck House and helped beautify the park by planting greenery, creating a welcoming space for the community to enjoy. This hands-on day of service was a powerful way to connect with our roots, give back, and celebrate the rich and vibrant legacy of the AAPI community. Through these events and more, AAPI Heritage Month was a meaningful reminder of the strength and contributions of our community, inspiring us all to continue carrying that spirit forward.
